Participants learn the correlations and benefits of yoga as it applies to golf performance. The program includes learning the mechanics of the golf swing as well as the specific muscles affected, common golf injuries, and incorporating breathing into the pre-shot routine and during the golf round. Emphasis is placed on learning specific yoga poses, muscles affected and their direct golf benefit, as well as practice of sequencing classes of various lengths for different levels of fitness. (ACE and AFA CECs available).

Katherine Roberts E-RYT 200, a 20 year veteran in fitness training, yoga studies, professional coaching and motivation is a certified fitness trainer, yoga instructor, golf biomechanical specialist, and performance coach. Katherine, the Founder of Yoga for Golfers has developed this revolutionary Mind/Body approach to golf fitness. She is featured on The Golf Channel, Golf Magazine, Sports Illustrated, Fox Sports, ESPN, and numerous other print media. She is also the director of teacher training for Peak Performance Yoga. Cheryl Kemp RYT 500, Yoga for Golfers Director of Business Operations, is a registered yoga teacher and certified Yoga for Golfers instructor. She was a speaker at the 2011 Cincinnati Golf Show and works with individual golfers, golf organizations and school teams. While playing golf for the University of Cincinnati, Cheryl obtained a bachelor’s degree and graduate training in psychology. She also studies nutrition, sports performance, fitness and meditation to promote a well rounded approach to fitness and wellness. Sue Wieger is a 16 year LPGA Class “A” Golf Professional, and a certified Yoga for Golfers trainer. She will discuss innovative golf bio mechanics, club fitting, golf fitness and mental training to maximize each individual player’s potential. Golf instruction will take place with hands-on experience at a local golf club.
Sue owns and operates Sue Wieger Golf Academy, a multi-service golf instructional business, is a published golf writer and has a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Kay Cornelius Jeanquartier is an LPGA Class ‘A’ Teaching Professional and the Director of Instruction at Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, AZ. Kay was voted by her LPGA peers as the 2004 and 2007 LPGA Section “Teacher of the Year.” She began teaching at Ocotillo Golf Resort in 1995 and has lived in the SE Valley since 1986. Her golf history is extensive, having grown up on the LPGA Tour (mother Kathy Cornelius is a 27 year LPGA Tour veteran and the 1956 U.S. Women’s Open Champion & father Bill is a PGA Life Member) as a “tour baby.” Kay began to forge her own way in golf when she was the youngest winner of the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship in 1981 (age 14). She continued her success as a junior golfer winning the Junior World Championship and the Arizona State Junior Championship twice during the early ?80s. As a junior and amateur golfer, Kay played in 19 USGA Championships from 1979 to 1987, including the U.S. Women’s Open in 1982 at age 15. Kay played collegiate golf at Stanford University from 1984 to 1988, competed in four NCAA championships, and earned NCAA All-American honors in 1988. After earning a B.A. in sociology from Stanford University, she turned professional and competed on the following worldwide tours: Ladies’ European Tour, the Ladies Asia Golf Circuit, the Futures’ Tour & the Players’ West Golf Tour from 1988 to 1997. While playing on the Ladies’ European Tour, Kay qualified for and played in three Weetabix British Open Championships, making the cut on two occasions. Since 1996, teaching and coaching golfers of all ages and experience levels has been and continues to be her passion. She has a special gift for teaching junior golfers and has taught several current and past NCAA Division I collegiate players. Kay began her involvement with the LPGA/USGA Girls’ Golf Club in 1996 and directed the Future Stars program from 2001 to 2006. She also founded the Ocotillo Golf Resort After-school Junior Golf Program in 2000. Even though junior golfers encompass a large part of her clientele, Kay teaches/coaches men and women golfers of all ages and ability levels. In addition to being voted by her peers as LPGA Section “Teacher of the Year” on two occasions, she was nominated as a Golf Magazine “Top 100 Teacher” for 2007-2008. Currently, Kay is recognized by Golf Magazine as a “Top Regional Teacher” and serves the LPGA as a National Evaluator. Kay’s interests outside of golf include photography, practicing yoga (since 1997), working out, hiking, reading, and walking. Denise Hatch, CHT. For 25 years Denise Hatch has been educating and teaching in the fields of clinical hypnotherapy, nutrition, yoga, and exercise physiology. She is the creator of the Mind Muscle Connection which uses the natural states of suggestibility to reprogram the subconscious mind. Denise has appeared on nationally televised programs and continues to travel, nationally and internationally giving presentations, classes and instruction.
